What's new in Dew 1.1.9 — Rhythm, your way

You said Rhythm had become messy. So it's yours now — calm by default, as much as you want when you want it.

Dew 1.1.9 is here. After 1.1.7, a lot of you wrote to say the Rhythm tab had become hard to read: too much on one page, a grid behind everything, and the seasons no longer in a line. This release is our answer.

Rhythm, your way

Your seasons are back in a line at the top. Under them, every insight Dew has about you is a small piece: when your period is likely, what tends to repeat, what helped, how this cycle compares with your usual. Each one says one thing, in a sentence, and opens into more when you tap it.

Four looks, one set of answers

switch any time — each one says exactly the same things

The Path

your seasons as a walk, with a signpost at every turn

Letters

a postcard from the season you're in

The Room

a window, a shelf, an hourglass for what's coming

Plain page

only words, nothing drawn

Tap the title at the top of Rhythm to choose a look. From the same place you can rearrange the page, change any piece, or choose My page and build your own, block by block: pick what you want to see first, then how it should look, how big it is, and what a tap opens. Press and hold the title to go straight into editing.

Charts, if you want them

Rhythm is calm and in words by default. But Dew works out a lot about you, and sometimes a picture says it better. Any chart can be added as a piece: your energy across the cycle (the little figure standing on today is back), your cycle lengths, moods by phase, temperature, your year, when symptoms tend to come, sleep and movement. Or open See all your charts and read everything in one place.

Your own things, and your own rules

You can now track anything of your own — coffee, a walk, the gym — from the evening log, and ask Rhythm what it goes with. And you can write small Watch-for rules: “when it’s day 24 to 28 and I have a headache, give me a heads-up in the evening”. At most one such reminder a day, and never one that pushes out your evening reminder to log.

Talk

The Dear Dew tab is now called Talk. It’s the one place to ask Dew privately, read the Meadow, or write to us about something missing, something in the way, or just to say hello.

Ovulation tests and discharge, for everyone

You no longer need to choose “trying to conceive” to log an ovulation test. It’s in the evening log’s More section now, alongside a new row for discharge. A watery or egg-white day also helps Dew place ovulation, together with your temperature and tests.

Things that were wrong, and aren’t

  • The 9 pm reminder to log could be replaced by a thank-you note from the Meadow. It no longer can.
  • Deleting a logged day left your forecast built on the day you'd deleted. It now updates straight away.
  • The first day of a period sometimes couldn't be deleted. Now it can.
  • A log from Siri or the Lock Screen could be lost if Dew was asleep in the background.
  • If Dew stayed open past midnight, the evening log kept writing to yesterday.
  • Deleting a day now takes Dew's copy of it out of Apple Health too.

Still yours alone

Everything new here lives where everything else in Dew does: on your phone and in your own private iCloud. No account, no ads, no Dew server. By design.

This release exists because you told us what wasn’t working. If something still isn’t, open Talk and write to us, or tell us here. Every note gets read.

Common questions

Frequently asked

Where did the graphs go?
Rhythm now tells you things in words and small drawings by default, because many of you found the old page busy. Every chart is still there if you want it: add any of them from Edit page → Add a piece → Charts, or open “See all your charts” from the page sheet. The energy graph with the little figure standing on today is back too.
Do I have to set anything up?
No. Dew picks a page for you based on how you use it. Changing the look, rearranging, or designing your own page are all optional, and Undo is always there.
What are Watch-for rules?
Small rules you write yourself, like “when it's day 24 to 28 and I have a headache, give me a heads-up in the evening”. They can put a piece at the top of Rhythm, ask you a quick question, or send one gentle reminder a day at most. They run on your phone.
Can I log ovulation tests without choosing “trying to conceive”?
Yes. The ovulation test and discharge are now in the evening log's “More” section for anyone tracking a natural cycle. A watery or egg-white day also helps Dew place ovulation, alongside your temperature and tests.
What happened to Dear Dew?
It's now called Talk. Talk is where you can ask Dew privately, read the Meadow, and write to us. The private chat itself is still called Dear Dew.
Is any of this sent anywhere?
No. Your looks, your rules, your own trackers and your discharge logs live on your phone and in your own private iCloud, like everything else in Dew. Discharge is never shared with a partner.
